U.S in Afghanistan for the long haul???

Thats what Bill Clinton’s wifey and Robert Gates are saying.

So does that mean Gates got his extra 40,000 troops he asked for? Not exactly, it seems the amount of troops is still under discussion

The Taliban insurgency currently has the momentum in Afghanistan, Gates said, adding that a Taliban takeover of the country would empower the al Qaeda terrorist network.

“Because of our inability and the inability, frankly, of our allies to put enough troops in Afghanistan, the Taliban do have the momentum right now, he said.

Ummm, okay so what is happening?

“We’re not leaving Afghanistan,” he declared, adding: “There should be no uncertainty in terms of our determination to remain in Afghanistan and to continue to build a relationship of partnership and trust with the Pakistanis. That’s long term. That’s a strategic objective of the United States.”

Okay, so I get the point of the meeting where the US will stay in Afghanistan, yet every though there are not enough troops in Afghanistan to stop the Talibana momentum the next step is not decided….way to take your time kids.

  1. Get the hell out of Afghanistan and Iraq – we are hated for our very presence and our troops should be brought back home, rather than have our economy bleed and our lofty aims bring us down to earth much like the Soviets experienced.

It is high time we realized that neo-colonialism is not going to work !

    • Hahaha spoken like someone that has not been there.

  2. I know the terrain there much better than most here in the US. And I know the people and the culture there much better than most here. So like it or not we are not going to win. That’s a reality. The rest is fantasy. You cannot defeat a people that has nothing to lose and whose mindset you cannot change. Suffice it to say in today’s world no one nation can subjugate another. Period.

    • So I prove my point, you have not been there. You say you known the terrain better than most, but your email address suggest you are of arab decent which perhaps gives you the illusion but you were born in the u.s and I’m guessing born somewhere in the mid 80’s. Well I was not born the u.s have spent many years living in the middle east.

So I guess then we send back all refugees and let them fight out themselves? Yep, sounds like a much better idea

  3. And you are still ignorant… I come from there and I’ve lived there. Yea, send the refugees back and bring back our troops home. Enough said !!

    • I’m sure the precious little hollywood brad and angelina and all the rest of them would hate…what cause when they then have to fight for.

Well then why don’t you tell “your” govt to ask them to leave. Its not I who seems ignorant.
